THE WHAT? Mary Kay has announced its continued support of the Arbor Day Foundation’s reforestation work in the south Liaoning Province of China by planting 8,000 trees in 2022.

THE DETALS China is said to be one of the countries in the world most affected by desertification, with Mary Kay having undertaken tree planting projects since 2020. 

The tree planting projects in the regions of Gansu Province and the western portion of Liaoning Province have focused on the removal of carbon dioxide, improved water quality and quantity, and the absorption of air pollutants.

THE WHY? The collaboration is part of Mary Kay’s sustainability efforts, with the company stating that by “slowing the extinction rate and planting native species, the situation can be significantly improved.”

Wendy Wang, President of Mary Kay Asia Pacific, said, “Planting trees is a proven solution for tackling many of the planet’s environmental issues. 

“By focusing our efforts on improving the natural habitat and biodiversity of these deforested areas, we are improving the environment along with the economy. We are investing in the future and spreading awareness that trees are essential for our communities to prosper.”

More than 1.2 million trees have been planted globally by Mary Kay in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation.
